Neal panicked the moment he left Emma’s sight. He began flailing through the room, looking for the bag that was hiding in plain sight. Once he found it he tossed it on the bed and then lowered himself to look under the bed. He moved some things around, it really was like a black hole under there, but he quickly found the small wooden box that he’d been looking for. He shoved it into the bag he usually used for work as well as Emma’s favorite book. He wasn’t sure how long they’d be there and it was sitting on the nightstand so it took only seconds. Throwing his satchel over his shoulder and grabbing the duffle he exited their bed room, taking a deep breath as he headed for the door.
“Got it. Let’s go.” He grabbed the car keys and then slipped beneath Emma’s arm to guide her to the car. He paused only long enough to lock the door behind him. Then he was getting her to the car, pulling out like a crazy person in traffic and finding ways to drive quickly threw New York. It wasn’t an easy feet and it will still take some time to get to the Hospital. "Okay, keep breathing. You can hold my hand if it helps." It just means that he won’t be signaling because his free hand will be on the wheel.
