It's been six weeks since Henry was born, and sometimes it feels like it's been longer than that, and sometimes like it was only yesterday. Mostly it depends on what kind of day it is, and how much trouble she has getting Henry to sleep, because if he's not sleeping, she's not sleeping.
Today is one of the days where it feels like they've made no progress at all, despite the fact that they just saw the doctor today and were both cleared. Henry's growing like he should, and she can resume life as it was before Henry was born. Including going back to work, which she will do on Monday.
She's just finishing up feeding Henry when she hears Neal come into the apartment. She sets Henry down in his crib to nap...hopefully to nap...and there, he seems to be asleep, so she backs away slowly and quietly so he won't wake up again, because she needs a few minutes to herself. She closes the door most of the way and sinks down onto the couch in the living room.
"I can't take another six weeks of this. I haven't slept more than two hours at a time since we brought him home."
