They've settled nicely into their life as a married couple -- married! That's something she never expected she would be, after the age of twelve when she'd finally given up on the dream of having the family she wanted. But here she is, with a one-year-old son and a husband. A husband who's a huge dork, but he's her huge dork, and she wouldn't have it any other way.

It's gotten easier for her to leave Henry with someone else for awhile (though she'll always worry), and she and Neal have planned a date night. A date night with no specific plans other than dinner. Which they've just come from, and are now strolling hand-in-hand through Rockefeller Plaza. Lights are twinkling, vendors are selling hot chocolate, and just the whole feeling of the place is rather romantic. Or maybe that's just because she was able to take a night off of working on her GED and find the time to come out with Neal.

"So what do you want to do now?"

It's been six months since Neal blurted out a proposal in the middle of screwing on the kitchen table (which she has scrubbed several times since then, to make sure it's clean), and he never took it back as just something he'd said in the heat of the moment, so now they're actually going ahead with this. She would have been happy with just going down to the courthouse, but Neal had wanted something more than that, and eventually she'd agreed, although she didn't see the point.

Neal had chosen the venue, since it was his idea anyway, and they put together a small guest list. Mainly just coworkers and neighbors, since neither of them has any family to invite. Once the wedding is over, they can start saving for a bigger place, and Henry can have a room of his own.

She found a simple dress that didn't cost too much, and as she hears the music play, she starts down the aisle to where Neal and Henry are waiting for her.

The day she had never expected to have is here.

It's been six weeks since Henry was born, and sometimes it feels like it's been longer than that, and sometimes like it was only yesterday. Mostly it depends on what kind of day it is, and how much trouble she has getting Henry to sleep, because if he's not sleeping, she's not sleeping.

Today is one of the days where it feels like they've made no progress at all, despite the fact that they just saw the doctor today and were both cleared. Henry's growing like he should, and she can resume life as it was before Henry was born. Including going back to work, which she will do on Monday.

She's just finishing up feeding Henry when she hears Neal come into the apartment. She sets Henry down in his crib to nap...hopefully to nap...and there, he seems to be asleep, so she backs away slowly and quietly so he won't wake up again, because she needs a few minutes to herself. She closes the door most of the way and sinks down onto the couch in the living room.

"I can't take another six weeks of this. I haven't slept more than two hours at a time since we brought him home."

It's almost time for this to be over, she can tell. Any time now, really, and she's been ready for that for days. She waddles like a penguin anytime she goes anywhere, she can barely reach her own feet to put shoes on, and even sleeping has been uncomfortable lately. She's still unsure about what comes next, but at least Neal seems to think that they'll know what they're doing.

At least she'd found a different job, as the receptionist at a salon down the street. Answering phones is something she can do, they don't care if she sits all day, and since she'd started out as a client, they already knew her when they hired her. They also said they could manage without her for awhile after the baby's born.

Which she's really hoping is what's happening now. She's had twinges all day, irregular but unrelenting, and although she hasn't mentioned them to Neal, she knows that he probably knows something's up. She's been wandering around the apartment since she got home, even when he tried to insist that she should sit, because the book and the doctor both said not to go to the hospital yet, and that being active could help the process along. Besides, she's just restless and doesn't want to sit down.

She's in the kitchen getting a drink of water when it happens. There's a release of pressure, like popping the top off a bottle of champagne (or so she imagines, having never actually had champagne), and wetness down her legs. It's a good thing she's wearing a dress.

It's time, there's no doubt about it now, and she grips the edge of the sink as another contraction, a real one now, moves over her. "Neal!"

Her days have started to look mostly the same. She's still on the morning shift at the diner (which is fine, she likes being home with Neal in the evening), but she doesn't even really need to set an alarm anymore. It never fails, 6am rolls around and she's running for the bathroom. It doesn't matter what she ate the night before; every morning, like clockwork, she's making friends with the toilet.

She's so tired all the time too, and she can't even have coffee to wake up. Her one consolation right now is that she can eat whatever she wants.

The first thing she does when she gets home after work is go to take a shower. There are so many food smells clinging to her clothes, and to her skin, and she needs to be rid of them. She puts on something more comfortable – stretchy pants and one of Neal's t-shirts – and plops on the couch to wait for him to get home. Her belly is starting to grow larger and she's going to need to go shopping for some maternity clothes soon. How are they going to afford that?

She closes her eyes while waiting for him to get home. She's not even halfway through yet. It's going to be a long six more months.

If someone had told her even a few months ago that this was what her life would become, she would never have believed it. She would have told them that she didn't want a life like this. Yet here she is, living in an actual apartment with an actual boyfriend, with an actual job. It's not the nicest apartment, of course, but it's what they can afford right now. Her job as a morning-shift waitress at the diner down the street isn't the nicest job either, but what kind of job was she expecting with a history like hers? At least she has a job, and it pays her in actual money and she and Neal can start a life together.

She's been at the job for a few weeks now, and she feels like she's starting to get the hang of it. She had thought at first that the job was the reason she was so tired all the time, but when she does the math in her head and adds in a few other things that she's noticed, she doesn't think that's the reason for it. She stops by the drugstore on the way home from work, and when she gets home, she's glad that Neal isn't home yet. She doesn't want to explain until she knows there's something to explain.

It's only a matter of a few minutes until she has an answer. Positive. She leaves the test sitting on the sink when she goes back to the living room to sit on the couch and wait for Neal to get home. She doesn't know what to think about this. She has no idea what to do with a baby, and she doubts that Neal does either. The topic had never come up.

What are they going to do now? They've only just gotten settled into this life, and now it's going to change again.

Powers/Abilities/Talents: As the product of true love, Emma has the ability to use magic. Her known abilities include:
  • Lie detection: She has the ability to determine when someone is telling a lie, even when she doesn't have her magic. There are limits to this, however: she has to be looking for a lie, and emotions can cloud this ability.
  • True love's kiss: A kiss that can break any curse as long as it's fueled by true love. This is not limited to romantic relationships but can also include the love of a mother for her son.
  • Immunity to heart removal: anyone attempting to remove her heart through the use of black magic will be stopped by an energy blast.
  • Eclipse inducement: the power to cause an eclipse. She had to combine her magic with someone else's to make this work.
  • Telekinesis: She can manipulate objects or people without physically touching them, like she once did with both David and Killian when they were in danger.
  • Pyrokinesis: She can create, control, and manipulate fire.
  • Healing: when she uses this to heal a wound, it will leave no visible sign.
  • Abjuration: She once used this to teleport Hook's hook away as a prank.
  • Conjuration: She can summon objects or beings through magic, often materializing in a white manifestation.
  • Teleportation: She can transport herself and others from one place to another, disappearing and reappearing in a cloud of grey smoke.

She also has Dark One powers, but as she's coming from a canon point before she has those powers, they are not listed here.

She has a few notable non-magical abilities as well:
  • Detective skills: Her eye for detail has led to skill in detective work. She used these skills to work as a bail bondsman in Boston (and presumably before she moved to Boston, too). She also applied these skills to the disappearance and supposed murder of Kathryn Nolan.
  • Marksman: She's skilled in the use of firearms.
  • Swordsmanship: She's skilled in the use of the sword. But not quite skilled enough to defeat Captain Hook!

    AU/CR AU Addendum: N/A

What 4 items would you like your character to have with them on the island during their stay? Henry's storybook, the necklace from Neal, her red leather jacket, her mother's ring.

Finally, pick one word from these four options: Chimes, lake, gravel or sun. Sun.
